In this month’s Collections, we’re going to help ease your mind and your waist with some fantastic insights on how to have fun, enjoy and keep a balanced diet with our Chinese New Year calorie guide.

It’s no real secret that many Chinese New Year goodies are loaded with sugar and fat, which aren’t that fantastic for the waist-line but there are some great choices you can make for a healthier start to the Year of the Goat and still enjoy amazing flavours.

Always remember to choose foods that are lower in sugar, fats and salt. If they have the Healthy Choice Symbol, then that’s a pretty good indication they’ll be better for you.

When you can, always go sugar-free and if you want a bit of a sweet treat, dried fruits are the way to go and not only are they healthier they’re also a great traditional snack for the festive season.

If you’re feeling thirsty, opt for drinks with low sugar or have natural juices. Anything that’s sweetened with pear juice is brilliant because that makes for a fantastic natural sweetener, you can even experiment with your own healthy cocktails.

If you’re looking to keep trim and terrific, moderation is always the key. You can enjoy some of those tempting little snacks you so love, as long as you don’t overdo it. They’re loaded with calories, and a few too many can quickly equal a sumptuous main meal – Beware! Resist the temptation and share with family and friends in small quantities. Again, fresh and dried fruits are always a healthier alternative plus they taste great!
